Program Requirements


    Requirements to get into the Program:

  • Be enrolled in computer science, information technology, psychology, linguistics, communications or related accessible technology field.
  • Be a US citizen or permanent resident.

  • Accepted students must:

  • be an undergraduate student in good standing.
  • live in campus housing.
  • attend weekly seminars and programs.
  • work a minimum of 40 hours per week at the REU site.
  • submit a written research report paper.
  • present a summary of research work and findings.
  • submit a web page describing their project and their experience.
  • complete an exit interview.
  • assist in further recruitments at their respective school.

  • Remember, once you have accepted an offer from the program, you are obligated to complete the summer internship (all 10 weeks) program and meet the program requirements.

Increase the number of future professionals in accessible computing.

Develop students' ability to apply computer and information-based technologies to real-world problems

Stimulate enrollment in graduate studies through the involvement of students in scientific investigations under the mentorship of research faculty.

Promote collaborative ties between the student's institution and Gallaudet University for future cooperative studies and research.
